We went to the discount pet supply place, because I had to get food and bones for Fiver, and Boyfriend found a bed that is very much like Fiver's favorite ratty old bed, which never seems to have an equivalent anywhere that I look. It was marked $12.99, a bargain. The cashier wasn't able to get it to scan and ring up, so despite the price tag, she just charged it as $5.99, even better! Boyfriend is amused, but I still feel like it was a big victory. Hope Fiver likes it.

cover
I love cover versions. Cover versions have the potential to turn bad songs into good songs, and to put good songs in a new light. When they come from unexpected sources, it's even more exciting.
I listened to The Magnetic Fields' 69 Love Songs obsessively in law school, and some of the songs still make regular appearances in my playlists. One of those songs is "The Book of Love." Today, I came across an amazing cover of the song done by, of all people, Peter Gabriel. I was never a Peter Gabriel fan, but this song has given me a new respect for him, and it pretty much made my day.

dinner for one
I had almost resigned myself to some "creative" lazy food tonight when I remembered the frozen soup dumplings and red bean buns.

recent records
Found this picture of Fiver from a few years ago. He was staying with my friends, and they caught him sunbathing. It's funny to compare the older pictures when he was slim and spry, with this one, where he's... not so slim. He's back somewhere in between now, in a happy-grumpy state of senior citizenship.

records
I was digging back through old pictures last night, and came across a lot of funny memories. I need to get a photo scanner before the pictures disintegrate or are lost. They are already completely disorganized. There are about eight years of pictures in there, in no order whatsoever.
I found these pictures of my dog from about six or seven years ago, still looking young and spry.

again again
Today is the second time in less than a week that I've put on my jeans and found money in the pocket. Perfect timing to sign up for a chair massage at the end of the day...

hoarder
As I was contemplating my new putty, I realized that I didn't have a container for the putty, and that it would soon acquire a sad coat of fuzz and dirt. But then I remembered that I am a pack rat, and I hate throwing things away, even if those things are useless. A year and a half ago, one of my coworkers had given me some candy that came in a little green plastic egg. I ate the candy and saved the egg. Even when we moved office buildings, I saved the egg. But where was it? I am not an organized pack rat, I'm just a normal pack rat. I was afraid that by the time I eventually (if ever) found the egg, my putty would no longer be worth preserving.
But there it was, sitting in my file cabinet, just waiting for me to find it and use it for something. The green plastic egg has found its purpose, and my pack rat behavior has been validated.
