Got to catch up with some friends over dinner the first night I got in. This is a bowl of liquefied parmesan ravioli with smoked lard. Add some good friends, and you can't go wrong.

business trip

I'm both glad I never had to do any business travel in the first eleven years of my career and glad that, now I've started, it's somewhere awesome. London, it's been a while, and I hear rumors of Marrakech next year...

forget me not

Every year, I kind of forget about apricots until apricot season rolls around and they show up in the fruit baskets at work, and then I remember how delicious they are.

New pedicure looks so much better than old pedicure.

korea it is

We'd been planning a dive trip in August, but an old friend is getting married in Korea around then, so... We're going to Korea!

giddy

Nothing makes me feel quite so giddy and hysterical as when Henry decides that my feet and toes need a thorough cleaning, and that he's the one to do it.

canine hygiene

Full toothbrushing, tartar scraping, nail clipping and grinding, and ear cleaning feels so productive.

morning meetings

I'm not a morning person, but morning meetings are much easier if they're over the phone, so that I can dial in from home, wear pajamas, and have a sleepy face, and the only thing I need to work on is my voice.

stock up

I have this little clutch from Target that I once got for like $15, and it just fits a phone, lip gloss, money, and cards. Every time I use it, I get compliments. Every. Single. Time. Who knew such a random thing would be the best thing I ever bought, if we're going based on compliments alone? But they didn't sell them for a few years after that. I saw a different color in the store today, then looked online, and they had five versions! I bought a bunch, so that I have extras for myself and to give as gifts in a pinch.

slog

Successfully forced myself to do a bunch of unappealing things this week: online traffic school (my first ticket), bank, pharmacy, fingerprinting (for a background check), and tons of awful paperwork (the joys of being a lawyer practicing in a different state than where I was admitted). Such a relief.

roll over

Henry learned how to roll over in two days. One of us must be really good at dog training.

Testing search features by trying to get our phones to come up with inappropriate responses to imprecise queries. Jolly good fun.

vegan

I love meat and junk food so much that it's a pleasant surprise when I come across a healthy vegan dish that tastes just as good. Making vegan chili using the recipe from the cafe at work, hope it turns out like theirs.

new management

Had my first 1:1 with my new manager today, and things are looking really promising. High probability of interesting work, with a lovely dose of breathing room first.

seven in nine

Finished the whole Harry Potter series in nine days. Lots of fun to read it all at once, and not bad time-wise, considering that it included a four day work week.

dreaming again

It seems that with the decrease in stress, my weird dreams and odd sleep talking have returned, much to our amusement. Combat ice dancing, anyone?
